Trade Price Framing
As the business started by supplying trade only, this pricing structure has remained in place, giving customers unique trade prices in a high street gallery. This has allowed many artist and art groups to afford the cost of professional framing as opposed to using ready made frames. This does give a major advantage to the look and selling prospect of their artwork in exhibitions.

Govinder Nazran (Artist) was best known for his vibrant paintings of animals—especially cats and dogs, as well as horses, elephants, and people.
Govinder’s Style
His works often featured bold, Rothko-inspired blocks of colour, layered shading, and inventive use of materials such as gold leaf, glitter, staples, and string.
Many of his pieces paired animals to explore themes of duality and balance, including yin and yang, family, love, and good versus evil. Alongside his paintings, he also produced sculptures, both figurative and abstract. This further expanded his creative voice.
His work achieved wide acclaim and commercial success, with collectors across the UK, the United States, and Japan. In 2004, the Fine Art Trade Guild named him Best Selling Published Artist.
He later enjoyed two sold-out tours in Japan, where audiences especially admired his work.
What happened to Govinder?
On Christmas Eve 2008, Nazran suffered a fall at his home in Saltaire. He died six days later, on December 30, in intensive care at Bradford Royal Infirmary from head injuries sustained in the fall.
An inquest found that his use of a varnish product, Brasslac, in an enclosed studio space, had led to seizures. These seizures contributed to the accident.
The coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death and stressed the importance of using such materials with proper precautions.
Govinder Nazran left behind his wife and daughter, along with a body of work that collectors around the world continue to cherish.
His paintings, particularly of his signature cats and dogs, remain highly sought-after. They stand as a testament to his creativity and vision.

Govinder Nazran was a much loved artist by all who new him, family, friends and art followers.
Where are his works now?
Many of Govinder’s art pieces have now been sold. Some can be found on resellers websites as secondary market works. There are a few galleries whom still have stock of a some of his works.
Govinder was a unique artist, his style of block painting and use of different materials not match by any other. Other particularly nice pieces include ‘Nitty Nora’, ‘El Diablo and ‘Guppie, Smallweed and Plank’
As can be seen, he was also very creative with the names of his works

Paul Horton’s Creative Passion: Story telling, simply using pastels
Paul Horton’s work might seem understated at first, but each piece is built around a thoughtful and deliberate story. Using pastel chalk as his medium of choice, he produces soft textures, subtle colour transitions, and a distinctive warmth that defines his style. Each piece explores his artistic approach, the recurring ideas in his work, and the way he harnesses simplicity to create a lasting emotional impact.
Des Brophy is a renowned artist celebrated for paintings, particularly depicting landscapes of Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District regions. His work collected locally and internationally.
He learned water colour techniques whilst serving in the RAF, a period which greatly influenced Des Brophy’s artistic style.
His work has been well published by Solomon and Whitehead art publishers, showcasing Des Brophy’s distinctive themes and techniques.
Solomon and Whitehead fine art publishers started trading in 1958 and closed in 2011. They were well known and respected fine art publishers hosting such names as Des Brophy, David Shepherd and Warwick Higgs. They covered a wide genre including wildlife, motor sports, landscapes and aircraft.
There are many of his works available from a wide range of art sellers, including fineartshopper, who have a good range of some of Des’s older pieces such as – Golden Girls, Loyal Supporters and Time Gentlemen Please. Collectors seeking authentic Des Brophy pieces should explore these options.

Des shows a good sense of humour in many of his pieces like these and many more found on fineartshopper.co.uk.
His work has always been at a price level which is accessible to all art collectors. His work is typically accompanied by a certificate of authenticity however, it is always advisable to purchase from galleries and trusted sources, particularly when collecting Des Brophy’s art.
Framing
Always ask you framer to conservation frame your new artwork. Intelligent conservation framing is essential for preserving Des Brophy’s masterpieces.
Conservation framing involves using techniques and methods that ensure the mounting and framing artwork can be reversed if necessary, allowing the artwork to be removed from its frame without any damage.
Your framer should be able to tell you if they work to conservation standards.
Another way to enhance your artwork is to request ‘ Glass,’ a specially coated white water that minimizes reflections and provides protection against harmful UV light, making it ideal for pieces by Des Brophy.
Protect and Enjoy Your Artwork
What is the difference between Art glass and regular glass?
Art glass gives you a much sharper image. Your picture will look much brighter and more vibrant, more to the point it looks like there isn’t any glass in the picture. While offering UV filtering as well, this technique is perfect for displaying Des Brophy’s stunning works.
Fascinating Artist
Des Brophy sounds like a fascinating artist with a strong connection to his surroundings and experiences. His background in the RAF, learning watercolor techniques, likely gave him a unique perspective on landscape art, blending military discipline with creative expression. The fact that his work is both locally and internationally collected speaks to the widespread appreciation for his style and vision.
It’s also interesting that Solomon and Whitehead, a well-known art publisher, have featured his work. That sort of exposure can really elevate an artist’s profile. His focus on the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District must make his landscapes feel particularly grounded in place and history—do you have a favourite piece of his, or is there something specific that resonates with you in his art?
